burt's bees lip balms & shimmers

As I mentioned a couple of posts ago I was recently sent some goodies by Burt's Bees to do reviews on. I have been impressed with everything so far and would definitely repurchase most things. However, today's post is on my favourite items that I received, the lip balms & lip shimmers. But I would just like to quickly mention that the pomegranate lip balm was sent to me in a swap.

Lip balms

  • Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil (tastes like cherry)
''Packed with antioxidants, this natural pomegranate lip balm coats lips with a subtle rosy hue, for truly luscious-looking lips.''
  • Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter (tastes like... mango)
''Specially formulated with Mango Butter, this replenishing lip balm moisturises and protects to reveal smooth, healthy lips. Lips will love its lush, fruity flavour and the soft, moisturised feeling it leaves behind.''
      • Rejuvenating Lip Balm with Acai Berry (tastes like kola kubes)
''Superfruit, Acai Berry, provides free radical fighting antioxidants and Vitamins A, C, D and E, as well as healthy Omega Oils, giving your lips a rejuvenating experience with a rich, sweet flavour. We call that one super balm!''

I'm extremely impressed with all of the lip balms, I can definitely say that they are by far the best lip balms that I've ever used. They are so cheap for the actual quality of product that I'd recommend stocking up on most of the yummy flavours. They give off no colour though so you may want to layer a lippie over the top. My favourite so far is pomegranate as in my mind it tastes a little bit like cherries, but they all taste equally as lush. If I could recommend that you go out and buy yourself one thing in the next few days it would definitely be one of these as they are saviours from the harsh conditions that are causing dry lips. You will definitely be super surprised at how amazing they are for a drug store lip balm!

      Price: £2.79-£3.69
Extra info: 100% natural, 4.25g of product.
Available online from: Look Fantastic (cheapest), Boots, Feel Unique, Bath & Unwind, Burt's Bees.
      In store: Debenhams & Boots.

      Lip shimmers

Lip shimmer in Nutmeg (left) - a deep red colour with gold shimmer
Lip shimmer in Champagne (right) - a very frosty light pink with silver shimmer

These are also great products as they moisturise the lips really well but add a subtle frosty shimmer at the same time. If you are one of those people who doesn't really like to just wear a plain lip balm that doesn't really have colour then these are a perfect option. Not as moisturising as the lip balms but still tons better than any other brand of lip balm. If you like the idea of the sheen of a lip gloss but hate the sticky feeling then you must give these a go as they come in a total of eleven different colours. They also taste slightly of peppermint which is nice and refreshing if you are on the go, and they are also ideal for popping in your handbag.

''A kiss of colour and pearlised shine add a hint of glamour to our world famous lip balm. Condition, smooth & highlight your lips with our wonderful selection of seven shimmering shades. Luminescent earth pigments add a hint of colour to our natural beeswax lip balm to give your lips the lift they need. Nourish, moisturise and soothe your lips with natural ingredients like vitamin E and coconut and sunflower oils. It's time to pucker up with shimmery colour.''

        Nutmeg (left) & Champagne (right)

        Price: £4.99-£5.99
Extra info: 100% natural,  2.6g of product.
Available online from: Fragrance Direct (cheapest), Bath & Unwind (best colour selection)
        & Burt's Bees.
        In store: Debenhams & Boots.

        2. I got a 3 pack of Burts Bees lip balms in the sales (original, honey and pomegranate) and I have to say I was disappointed. :( I have really dry lips and they really don't compare to Carmex. Their only advantage is that they're better for before lip colour as they're not as heavy.

I love the look of the shimmers, so pretty!

        4. I have both the Original Beeswax and the AcaiBerry lipbalms and they are so lovely! I used to find carmex moisturising but I find with these I don't have to even slather much on to moisturise my lips! Great reviewx

        5. Do you like their normal honey/beeswax lipbalm? I'm going abroad and need something to keep my lips from drying out! I hate chapped lips :L.

        8. I am soooo giving my sweets a Burt's Bees shopping list when he goes back to the States this summer! I want! All! Unfortunately they are a bit overpriced here because only a few internet shops carry a small number of items. But juicy lips tasting & smelling like mango... that's going to get me lots & lots of sweet sweet kisses from my honey for sure!

        12. I’ve been using Made from Earth’s lip balm for about a decade now and I’ve always loved it. It tastes, smells, and feels great on my lips.

I’ve tried the other variations of their lip balm such as the blueberry, spearmint, and citrus. the citrus one is a bit too feminine for me. So I’ve come back to the original vanilla flavor and I’ll probably stick with it for awhile. The cooling instantly sooths my dry lips while the beeswax and oils leave my lips feeling soft and moisturized. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should. Bottom line: There’s a reason people swear by this stuff. Give it a shot.
