favourite blogs

So as I've been blogging for nearly a year now I've also been following a lot of blogs in that time too. I thought that I'd mention my ultimate favourites here so that you can all go follow them. I follow loads of blogs that are really good but I picked out these because I literally love every post that they do and find their blogs inspiring.

space nk package of samples

I thought that I'd just quickly mention that I received an amazing package from Space NK the other day. As I helped them out in one of their campaigns and advertised their 20% off event. They informed me a couple of weeks ago that they would send a small package of samples as a thank you, and here was me expecting a bunch of testers the size that you get in mags, but they actually sent me really generous trial sized products. I think my mum will agree as a witness of when I opened the package that I was overjoyed. Pretty much all of the samples are by brands which I have never tried and wouldn't be able to afford so they will be great to review on my blog. So a massive thank you to Space NK, I will most definitely be shopping there more often.

Here is what they sent me..

I have only so far tried out one product, which is the 'Laughter' perfume by Space NK. I adore it. I am a great fan of fresh smelling perfumes but most of which that I have tried ended up being overpowering and giving me a headache. But this perfume by Space NK is really different and they have the balance of fresh and peppery scents balanced perfectly. I am no perfume expert so I'd recommend that you go try it out for yourself but I guarantee that if you like fresh smelling perfumes that you will love it. It also has amazing staying power which can also be a problem with other perfumes. I only have to spray two to three times for it to take a fair few hours to die down and need to be reapplied. I highly recommend giving it a go, especially when winter is starting to fade and spring is coming along. I got the 15ml size which is great to buy if you want to try out the perfume first. They also do lots of different gift sets in this scent and body wash, body lotion, hand lotion & body polish if you like it as much as I do!

Available in -
Laughter Eau de Parfum 50ml - £60
Eau de Toilette 50ml - £40
Eau de Toilette 15ml - £20

Click the links above to take a closer look & to head over to the Space NK website.

also I thought that I'd just let you all know that the Space NK Christmas sale starts tomorrow. So if you have a few extra minutes between pigging out and watching Christmas films I'd definitely recommend that you check it out. If not, just head over there on boxing day to get a few bargains with your Christmas money.

lush 'the boogg' ballistic

Another yummy smelling bath ballistic by Lush. It creates a gorgeous creamy lather and when the small coloured balls break off they fizz away in vibrant colours. I definitely highly recommend buying this one as it's the nicest smelling bath ballistic that I've tried, and I just love the explosion of colour in my bath tub that it makes.

mac pink friday

I finally got round to buying 'pink friday' lipstick the other day by Mac and Nicki Minaj. It was only available for four fridays in a row, the last of which being last friday when I bought mine. I don't really know why that was the case, probably for publicity purposes, and I don't really care, all I care is that it is an amazing pink lippie! I would be more than happy to own every single pink lipstick on the planet, neon pink, fuchsia pink, barbie pink, baby pink, you name it, I love it! It reminds me of a perfect mix between St Germain and Snob lipstick by Mac, both of which I am constantly wearing, but this has a much nicer finish on the lips. It is what I can best describe as a chalky pink colour with very blue undertones. It is slightly more wearable than St Germain and a bit more of a fun colour than Snob. Unfortunately you won't be able to pick it up from Mac anymore, but if you are lucky you may be able to pick one up on ebay from a reputable seller, though people are charging silly amounts for them from what I have heard. And as you can see, it applies as much more of a lighter colour than how it first looks in the tube.

(excuse that my lips look dry, blame winter)

current make-up #4

I took these web cam pics quite a while ago so I thought I'd put them up finally today. It was before I died my hair so it looks rather dull in these pictures. The poser inside of me decided to come out yet again so I reached for some geek glasses and got camera clicking. I really don't think that I will ever grow out of pouting, sigh. Oh and the glasses are from Urban Outfitters if anyone fancies looking like a weirdo like me.

Mac 'snob' lipstick
Mac fluidline eyeliner in 'blacktrack'
Nars 'orgasm blush'
Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation & Benefit Erase Paste concealer (as per usual)

lush candy cane bubble bar

So with Christmas almost upon us (wooo) I thought that I'd try to review a few things from the Christmas collection at Lush, starting off with Candy Cane bubble bar. It smells exactly like Snow Fairy shower gel, which is gorgeous by the way. Given it doesn't really look like a candy cane but it more than makes up for that once crumbled into the bath. It's definitely the creamiest bubble bar that I have ever tried, and I've tried pretty much every one that Lush sell. The scent is a mixture of vanilla and sugary sweetness which at first some people may find overpowering but once it mixes in the bath the smell dies down a bit. Plus it creates mounds of bubbles and leaves the water silky smooth.

current make-up #3

I don't actually think that I have done a picture on here of my make up with bright red lips, which is bizarre as I wear them all the time. Apologies for the fact that I look slightly like casper in these pictures but I was sat in front of a really bright window. I kept my hair completely natural which I do on a rare occasion as I tend to straighten it most days. I also used the amazing Umberto Giannini backcomb in a bottle to give my hair volume. I tied a vintage headscarf in my hair and let it fall naturally. Anyhow, I will be getting my new camera in just over a week so everything will be so much better.

another stargazer polish

This is such a gorgeous glittery red colour with purple shimmer. It is such a unique colour and truly looks like christmas in a little retro nail polish bottle. From my experience the stargazer polishes apply beautifully and they last just as long as expensive brands such as opi or essie. I'd definitely highly recommend them at only £3 per bottle! And as I've said before they are easy to get hold of in most new look stores. The shade is '318'.

neal's yard lip glosses

A little while ago neal's yard launched a small make up collection. I'm sure that most of you have already heard of the brand neal's yard, but if you haven't, they are basically a company selling organic bath and skincare products. I was sent two of the lipglosses from the make up range and I'm really impressed with them. I wouldn't really describe them as a gloss to be honest, as they give the lips more of what I'd describe as a nourishing sheen. I'm not a real fan of glosses apart from a few exceptions so I was glad to find that they were different to most glosses. I can't stand the stickiness of most glosses but every now and then I come across a nice gloss that gives a sheen and nourishes the lips at the same time, like these by neal's yard. They also taste and smell absolutely amazing, as they are infused with sweet orange essential oil. They are also well pigmented which differs from most glosses. They cost £9.00 each for a 15ml tube and come in a range of shades, and I definitely recommend you buy one of two if not just for the gorgeous taste!

I was sent the shade rosehip which is a simple deep red colour

and english rose which is a dusty rose colour with gold shimmer.

You can have a browse at the other shades and make a purchase on the neal's yard website.

candy cane nails

I was having a play with the nail art pens that Stargazer sent me to try out and came up with this gorgeous candy cane style look. I do have quite a steady hand but I also have the tendency to muck things up because I'm very clumsy, so I think for a first attempt at striped nails it's not too bad! It was actually really easy to do though, just apply two coats of a bright white colour like alpine snow by OPI (which is what I used) and then drag the thin nail art brush across the nail to create stripes, simples! The fuchsia colour by Stargazer which I used is so much more bright in person and looks very neon.

OPI 'alpine snow' - £9.50
Stargazer nail art pen in 'UV pink' - £3.00

stargazer barbie pink polish

I definitely have more bright pink nail polishes than a sane person needs. They are all fairly similar but different enough for me to keep justifying buying more. But I have to say, this stargazer polish is pretty much the most unique pink colour that I own, simply because it is so metallic. It's a very definite barbie bubble gum pink colour which I absolutely adore. It applies really easily and I love the retro style bottle that it comes in. And the best part is the stargazer polishes cost only £2.50 each! Next time you are in New Look you should check out the stargazer cosmetics stand for sure, usually near the till. This polish is in the shade '205'.

vintage nails

I was messing around today with a few nail polishes and nail art pens and here is what I came up with. I was sent a few nail art pens a little while ago by stargazer and I decided to use the white one to create polka dots on the blue colour. I think that all the colours go really nicely together, hope you like it.

Stargazer nail art pen in 'white' - £3.00
Eyeko 'rain' polish - £3.50
Model's Own 'sterling silver' polish - £5.00
Model's Own 'buff pink' polish - £5.00

star gazer eye dusts

As I'm sure most of you have seen I did a blog post a few days ago on a stargazer lipstick. I had a really great response from it and the PR company working with stargazer contacted me via email a few hours after it was up. They said how much they loved the post and that they wanted to send me a few goodies as a thank you. Wow! I can't even put into words how lovely the woman that contacted me was and she said that what I review was totally up to me. So the next day after they contacted me I received a parcel filled with brightly coloured make up, happy days. I will of course be reviewing everything, as I always do, but for now here is a review on the eye dusts!

Shade 47 -
a very bright fuchsia barbie pink colour with hints of gold and silver.

Shade 103 -
a deep purple colour with lots of silver shimmer

Shade 101 -
an electric lime green colour with a metallic silver shimmer

Shade 6 -
a fairly matte deep pink/red colour with a touch of violet undertones

Shade 102 -
a simple bright blue colour with silver glitter

Shade 106 -
a violet purple colour with lots of silver glitter

As you can see they are all very vibrant and pigmented colours. They are a little messy so just be careful when you are unscrewing the little pots. I love the amount of glitter that comes in each one! Obviously they will last a lot longer on the lids if you use a primer and make sure that you cover your cheek before you apply them to your eyes to protect from 'fall out'. And if you apply them damp you get more of a vibrant effect. The packaging is really simple and sleek and are great for your make up collection as you can really easily see which colours they are through the lid.

The stargazer website is a little difficult to navigate and see proper swatches but hopefully you will be able to see which colours you like fairly easily. You can find the eye shadow dusts here. Alternatively you can buy stargazer in New Look stores, they cost just £3 each.
