christmas gift guide: glossybox

Hi beauts, some of you may remember that a few months ago Glossybox weren't in my best books after they fiddled around with their Glossydots reward system and postage prices however I think that as they were such a new company at the time it can now be overlooked slightly. If any of you are yet to finish your Christmas shopping then I'd recommend checking out the gift subscription option, you can buy someone either 3 boxes at £30 (+p&p), 6 boxes at £60 (+p&p) or 12 boxes at £110 (+p&p). And the best part is the gift card is emailed either to you or the recipient of the box so you can either print it out and give it to them personally or have it sent straight by email.

Decemeber's box:

Glossybox for Men:

Glossybox have also just launched the male version of the box which instead is shipped every 3 months with 7 samples but costs £17.95 per box, a bit too expensive for my liking. The samples in the box didn't impress me enough to warrant that kind of price but hopefully the sample sizes will improve as one thing I did like was the variety of products to try out (if you were a bloke). And as us ladies know men definitely need a friendly push in the right direction when it comes to skincare and cosmetics so giving a gift subscription to your other half this Christmas is a good idea too.

I've got a load of Christmas gift idea posts coming up for you all in the next few days so watch out for those but for now I will just put up a quick one featuring Soap and Glory.

If any of you are stuck for gift ideas this Christmas then I really recommend popping into Boots to have a nose at the Soap and Glory gift sets which are 3 for 2 at the moment, or if you are feeling lazy have a browse on the Asos website where the gifts are currently 25% off. The cheaper sets make perfect stocking fillers and the slightly more expensive versions would put a smile on any beauty junkies face.

sleek brow kit

As the eyebrows are said to frame the face I always think it's important to look after them properly so a good pair of tweezers and a brow kit is essential to me! Over the years I've tried eyebrow pencils, dark eyeshadows and different kits for my eyebrows but the Sleek kit is definitely by far my favourite. The kit comes with a dark shadow, a wax to set the colour, two brushes and a mini pair of tweezers in a compact with a good sized mirror.  The product applies really easily and lasts all day, I also find that it's the perfect dark brown shade for my brows and the compact fits really nicely in my make up bag. The kit comes in light for those with blonde/light hair or dark for people with darker/brown hair and at just £7.99 is great value for money.

(I'm wearing Benefit 'they're real' mascara in the second picture)

''For perfectly shaped, groomed brows look no further than Sleek MakeUP’s brow kit. Complete with all the tools you’ll ever need for brows that flatter and frame your face, choose from two shades in light or dark to compliment your natural colouring. Just a few simple steps are all it takes for preened and polished brows! Begin by using the mini tweezers to remove any stray hairs for a smooth and defined result. Using the handy hard angled brush, apply the brow wax along the natural shape of your brow to create the ideal arch. Next, use the setting powder to set the wax and to fill in any sparse areas. All packaged in one handbag sized kit, your brows need never stray away!''

Available in Superdrug stores or on the Sleek website for £7.99

soap and glory do make up!

Not long ago my favourite 'drug store' brand Soap and Glory launched their first ever make up range and I've been sent a few pieces to try out. Usually famed for their bubble baths and skincare products creating a make up line was something completely new for the brand but the fact Soap and Glory are a fave brand for most of us the idea of inexpensive make up products by them is a guaranteed success. I'd compare the range as similar to Benefit but at much cheaper prices.

Trick and treatment dark circle corrector - £9.00

Having an olive toned complexion I get the most annoying dark under eye circles that I feel the need to cover up on a daily basis but equally I hate the feeling of having a thick concealer under my eyes. This concealer works well for me as it feels light on my skin and has a subtle shimmer pigment to reflect light from your under eye circles. It won't give your make up an airbrushed effect or barbie looking skin but is worth buying if you don't like heavy make up, just don't expect miracles.

Solar powder multi shade bronzer - £11.00

If any of you have tried the '10' bronzer by Benefit this is basically the half price version. I'd probably describe it as more of a highlighter than bronzer as it isn't very pigmented but still creates a lovely glow on the skin. Definitely worth looking at to boost your complexion in this dull wintry weather.

Smoulder Kohl waterproof eyeliner - £5.00

Finally my favourite out of the bunch, I'm not a great fan of pencil liner usually as I find it smudges too easily and I end up resembling a panda, however I've been really impressed with this one. Because it's waterproof it literally doesn't budge all day but it initially applies really well as the pencil is so soft. It's by far the best pencil eyeliner I've ever tried and even comes with a sharpener built in the lid, and the fact it's so cheap is a massive bonus.

The Soap and Glory make up range is available in Boots stores or online (currently on 3 for 2).

accessorize illusion nail polishes

I was wandering around Superdrug the other day and noticed an Accessorize make up stand for the first time as my local stores don't stock any. The first thing I looked at was nail polish as I have a slight obsession with having painted nails, and I bought three as they were on offer as 3 for 2 so they ended up coming to just £8 for all three. I've tried out the blue and gold colours so far which are both amazing but I will just do swatches of the blue for now and post on the other two colours later on. The polish was really easy to apply and lasted ages so I definitely recommend checking them out, especially while they are on offer.

radox spa range

I went along to a PR event recently and was shown the new Spa range by Radox. I was told how they have gone for a luxury feel with the range but still kept the prices really affordable. With the cold weather I think it's the perfect time to stock up on some relaxing bubble baths especially at £2.21 a go.

Soothe Bath Soak
''This delicate blend of milk, natural fig and delicate neroli oil will caress your skin, leaving you feeling completely soothed as you sit back and relax in your bath.''

Rejuvenate Bath Soak
''Contains jasmine to revive your weary mind, while green tea and orange oil combines to leave your skin feeling soft and completely rejuvenated.''

Condition Bath Soak
''This luxuriously thick and rich conditioning bath soak contains a blend of honey, milk and almond oil, leaving your body feeling soft, conditioned and completely comforted, perfect for a long weekend unwind.''

Radiant Shower Scrub
''The silky blend of scrub particles, caring fig extract and delicate neroli oil will lift and remove dull skin cells and leave you feeling soft, silky and radiant.''

Enrich Shower Cream
''The exotic blend of coconut oil, hibiscus and frangipani flowers will leave your skin feeling pampered and completely nourished from top to toe.''

Condition Shower Cream
''The blend of honey, milk and almond oil develops into a thick and creamy lather, leaving your skin feeling soft, smooth and completely conditioned.

Purify Shower Cream
''Expertly blended with white clay, milk and lavandin oil to effectively cleanse and remove impurities,  leaving your skin fresh and glowing like you've just walked out of a Spa!''

Overall I'd say that you should definitely try a few of the products out, they all smell amazing and work really well and at the cheap price of £2.21 you can't go wrong. Radox Spa range is available to purchase nationwide in Tesco, Sainsbury's and selected supermarkets with a RRP of £2.21 for both the shower and bath range.

rimmel instant art nail wraps

Hi dolls, just a quick post today on the Rimmel Instant Art nail wraps that I have been  given an exclusive sneak peek of before they hit the shops.

The strips are surprisingly easy to apply and literally take half of the time to painting your nails, and then of course the best bit is you don't have to wait around for them to dry! I've posted on nail wraps before so don't really need to go in depth about how they are applied, but basically they are perfect for any nail polish addict that doesn't have the time to faff around with polish. Just place on the nail, rub down and file off the excess wrap, simple. I found that they lasted the same amount of time as a normal polish would without a topcoat, so basically a couple of days before the tips started to chip.

I am in love with the Union Jack design especially with the grungy grey and black shades, definitely something to try for Autumn/Winter.

This was a sponsored post

The nail wraps are now available on the Asos website for £6.99 and in Superdrug stores.

summer favourites

Over the Summer I've found lots of great products perfect for the hot weather (cough) and I thought I'd share them all with you guys. I've done a fair few mini reviews down below so as not to clog the post up too much I just briefly mentioned most products.

Summer isn't the same without a bright lipstick or two and over the years I've found a load of favourites that I even wear to the beach on holiday.

Mac Impassioned - Nars Heat Wave - Mac St Germain - Mac Show Orchid - Illamasqua Blaze - Mac Morange

Nars multiples are a must have for Summer in my opinion, the give your cheeks a lovely glow that goes perfect with a tan. Given they are a tad pricey but on average a stick will last you about 5 years so definitely a great investment.

If you aren't a fan of cream blush products then the Rituals Sunglow compacts are a perfect alternative for a hint of shimmer, and the bronze colour will take you through to Autumn with the warm shades of coral.

Tinted moisturisers are also a must as no one wants to be faffing around with foundation in hot weather. If you are after great coverage then the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer is perfect for that but to give your skin a quick glow then Ahava light foundation or Witch anti-blemish tinted moisturiser are also great options.

I've also been loving the new Nars Illumintaors for the past few months patted onto my cheeks in the daytime. Click here for an in depth review.

A good moisturiser is another essential in the Summer months as the sunshine can really dry out your skin but equally you don't want anything too heavy on making it feel greasy. On my holiday in Greece I used the Thalgo Energizing Cream every day and swear by it. The cream is lightweight and sinks straight into the skin and has a lovely refreshing scent. Up to +52% hydration one hour after application, sounds good to me!

Obviously you can't go on holiday without sun cream and I personally never go lower than a factor 20 to protect my skin properly. Sun shots are a great idea if you are going away on any trips while abroad or to pop in your handbag on a hot day in England, a lot easier than carrying a big bottle around with you.

Hair wise I always find my hair goes frizzy and can be such a pain to maintain in the hot months, Fekkai Silky Straight Serum is absolutely amazing for that problem and doesn't feel like the usual sticky serums as it's high quality it sinks straight into my hair. The Beach Waves spray also by Fekkai creates beautiful beachy waves, but unfortunately they both come with a hefty price tag. At the other end of the price scale there is Batiste Dry Shampoo which I'm sure you've all tried and know about but I found it great after a day at the beach to refresh my hair.

While keeping my suitcase weight in mind I decided to take the Orly mini polishes with me as the size makes them ideal for travelling. They launched in larger Boots stores not long ago now and come in loads of different shades including bright Summer colours.

Orly Mini Polishes - £5 from Boots

And finally after that essay of a blog post last but not least is Strobe Cream by Mac. If I could recommend that you get one thing for beautiful glowing skin then it would definitely be this product. You can either mix it with foundation to create a tinted moisturiser or just apply it straight to your cheek bones. The forumla also comes in a liquid version if you like to steer away from cream products.

Hope you're all loving the gorgeous weather xo
