glitter tipped nails

In my opinion, doing your french tips with white glitter rather than white nail polish looks much more up to date. I used to wear a french manicure all the time, but I got really bored of it and haven't worn it for years, as it is so, um, predictable? I just bought a big pack of white glitter from Paperchase for £1.50 and the pink base coat was Secret Affair nail polish by Essie which I love. All you have to do is wait for the pink colour to dry, then apply your top coat just over the tip of your nail, as you would normally apply the white colour for a french manicure. Then dip the tip of your nail that you just painted in the glitter, brush off the excess glitter and wait for it to dry then apply your top coat. Simple!

the body shop sale - more bargains!

I couldn't resist popping into The Body Shop the other day after seeing posters plastered all over the windows reading 'sale'. I have been after another body butter after I got the shea body butter free with Marie Claire magazine, and have been loving it all month. The full sized body butters are usually £12.50, which is a bit much if you ask me. So I was really happy when I found an almond scented full sized one reduced to just £5. I also picked up a few more really good bargains..

Almond Body Butter - Reduced from £12.50 to £5
Almond Shower Gel - Reduced from £6 to £3
Silver Glitter Liquid Eyeliner - Reduced from £10 to £1

when revlon minted goes wrong..

Not long ago I did a review of Revlon's Minted nail polish, which you can find here. I warned about how using the wrong top coat could make it look, frankly, bloody awful. So, I painted my nails the other day, and couldn't find my Seche Vite, so I just used a standard Sally Hansen top coat. As the top coat was setting, more bubbles kept appearing on the nail varnish and it just kept looking worse and worse. I used a base coat and everything, it just seems that Revlon Minted is very temperamental.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

lush volcano foot mask burnt my feet

A few weeks ago I tried out Lush Volcano Foot Mask, expecting it to be gentle and sooth my feet, and the complete opposite happened.

I applied about half a hand full onto each foot, then wrapped my feet in cling film as advised, and waited 15 minutes. My soon quickly started to feel prickly and sore, but I thought I would wait until the 15 minutes was up. I then went to wash the product of my feet, and once the foot mask had all come off, my feet looked as if they had bad sun burn. It was very uncomfortable and the skin on my feet felt very raw. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't 'unbearable' pain, but it definitely wasn't pleasant, and not something you would expect from a foot mask. I'm not sure whether I may have just had a bad reaction to the foot mask, but I wouldn't advise anyone to risk it. After a few hours, my feet started to look and feel normal again. It seems that it lived up to the name 'Volcano', making my feet red and feeling burnt.
Not the prettiest sight.. sorry!

I wrote to Lush about what had happened, and as we all know, Lush are great at customer service, and sent me out a box of goodies.

In the package..
Butterball Bath Ballistic (smells yum and leaves my skin silky smooth)
Dream Cream (not tried this yet)
Almond & Coconut Shower Smoothie (literally one of the nicest things I have ever smelt, and makes my skin lovely and soft)
Sultana of Soap (yet again, this smells amazing, I haven't used it yet as I want to save it to smell!)

opi give me the moon

I recently got an OPI nail polish called 'Give me the Moon' and it is one of those nail polishes that looks really pretty in the bottle, but when it comes to putting it on the nails it is really annoying and really hard to build up the colour properly without it going gloopy. So I had Models Own 'Beth's Blue' already on my nails and decided to layer it over the top, I think it turned out pretty well, and it has gone from nail polish with a really weird formulation to working very nicely over any light blue colour.

Before:
Base - Models Own 'Beth's Blue'

After:
Over the top - OPI 'Give me the Moon'

It's such a beautiful colour when the sunshine hits it, so I am glad that I have found a way to make it work. It's a gorgeous mucky grey colour with blue glitter running through it.
