urban decay reviews

Hello beautiful people. Today I'm going to do some short and sweet reviews of some of Urban Decay's most popular products.

Eyeshadow in 'Sin'- £13.00

This is a really great neutral shade and makes a perfect warm highlight colour for either on the brow bone or the inner corner of your eye. The quality of the shadow is amazing and therefore in my opinion is worth the price tag, I love the packaging of their shadows too.

Eyeshadow Primer Potion - £14.50

I think pretty much anyone who's clued up on beauty products already knows how good the primer potion is, but for those that don't you basically apply a small amount across your eyelid before using eye shadow to make the pigment stronger and to make the look last longer. It has also recently been repackaged and I personally much prefer the tube to the pot that it used to come in as it's a lot easier to just squeeze it out. Definitely something you need in your life if you wear a lot of eye shadow.

Glide-on Eye Pencil in 'Binge' - £13.00

Another product that Urban Decay are famed for is their pencil eyeliners due to the high pigmentation and long lasting wear. The liner applied really well and although it's really creamy it still manages to stay put all day which is really impressive. The midnight blue colour is beautiful too especially if you have hazel coloured eyes.

Complexion Primer Potion - £18.00

I've been using this for a few months now under my foundation and it makes a great alternative to a thick moisturiser and adds a lovely glow to my skin. I also found that it made my foundation much easier to apply and as I have dry skin it stopped my foundation from looking cakey. Another great thing about this product was that my foundation has been lasting longer on my skin throughout the day.

All of the products shown above are available on the Debenhams or House of Fraser website and in store. What are your favourite Urban Decay products?

sleek nude collection

Just before I jetted off for my hols last month I received the Sleek Nude Collection through my post box but unfortunately ever since then I've been such a busy bee that I haven't managed to share my thoughts on the products. I was pleased that they came out with the natural shades in the collection for daytime looks as Sleek can tend to be quite a bold brand when it comes to colour so the products make a nice change. The collection hit the shops on 31st August so if you fancy a closer look head out to Superdrug and do some swatching.

Suede Blush - £4.30

The blush from the collection is a gorgeous warm toned peach/brown shade, perfect for olive toned skin or used lightly on a paler complexion.

Bare Minimum - £4.30

I personally believe that having at least one Sleek Pout Polish is a must in any girls make up kit and you can't go wrong with this nude/clear shade. It doesn't add any colour to my lips personally but works well at moisturising them and adding a subtle sheen to the lips.

Au Naturel i-Divine Palette - £6.49

The eye shadow palette has a load of great daytime/neutral colours and some darker shades for a smoky eye. I did unfortunately find some of the lighter shades slightly too chalky and didn't show up on my skin very well as you can see. However overall it's still a decent palette and worth getting even if you only use the darker/shimmer shades.

sleek oh so special palette

Hello dolls! Today I have a little review on the fairly new 'Oh So Special' palette by Sleek. The colours in the palette are all fairly neutral; pinks and light shades on the left and darker shades more suited to a night out on the right. I'd say that half of the shades are matte and the other half shimmer so there's lots of choice. All of the colours are very well pigmented as with all Sleek palettes, I also noticed that the shimmer shades have a slight waxy texture. Overall it's a great palette based on pink and purple colours with plenty of different shades to choose from, and if you love your eyeshadow then it's definitely one to have a look at.

Available from: Superdrug stores and the Sleek website for £6.49

pre-release review: sleek caribbean collection

So moving quite swiftly on from yesterdays post that applied to only the moneybags of you all, today I will be reviewing another great collection by Sleek. And since we have been having weather identical to the Caribbean lately it's rather apt. I was actually lucky enough to go to the Caribbean a year or so ago and went to quite a few different islands and can definitely say Sleek have captured the colours and feel of the Caribbean perfectly.

Aruba Blush - £4.29

Yeah it really is a bright orange tangerine coloured blush. Don't let that put you off though because as I said a few posts ago you can blend the blush out to look completely subtle. Worth investing in if you are bored of the same old pink blush, as long as you use a light hand!

Bonaire Pout Polish - £4.29

I hadn't tried a pout polish by Sleek before but had heard lots of good things about them and it definitely didn't disappoint. The packaging is perfect and ahemm.. 'Sleek'.. perfect to pop in your bag for the beach. The colour is fairly sheer but has a subtle orange tint while on the lips, perfect with a tan. It has the moisturising feel of a lip balm (it's enriched with Avocado and Sweet Almond Oil) yet the sheen of a gloss.

CuraƧao I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette - £6.49

Another fab eyeshadow palette by Sleek, after all that is what they are mainly famed for. If you like bright eyeshadows you most definitely love this palette. I love the burnt orange with gold shimmer, the pearly white colour and the olive green with gold glitter best. And to be honest the palette would be worth purchasing even if you only like half the colours, you could pretty much afford two palettes for the same price as one Mac eyeshadow. That's almost 24 eyeshadows instead of the price for one!

The collection is available from the 6th of July for a limited time only from Superdrug stores or  www.sleekmakeup.com

new launch: bourjois intense eye shadows

Noir Fusain T10 - Brun Moka T9 - Vert De Gris T7

Bourjois have just launched a new line of 'intense eyeshadows' which I'm really impressed with. I had a swatch of them at an event I was at recently and there was such good pigmentation from barely swiping my finger over the shadow. They have different packaging to the standard eyeshadows that Bourjois sell too as they come in thinner pots and without the brushes (that no one uses anyway), I definitely prefer the much sleeker packaging. The only downside is they can feel a bit chalky as they are matte shades but definitely still worth checking out, I love the khaki colour with gold glitter. There are a load of new shades to have a look at that all cost £6.99 each.

Available from: Boots.com or Superdrug

new launch: sleek mediterranean collection

I was recently sent a few pieces from the new Sleek Mediterranean Collection that launched a few days ago to show you all. I really like how summery and inspired by bright beautiful colours the collection is. It's limited edition so make sure you pick up what you like the look of in Superdrug stores soon.

Monaco Eyeshadow Palette - £6.49

As with all Sleek palettes the eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented, including the matte shades. I'm loving how fun and colourful all of the colours are, they are obviously not colours that you would wear everyday but would look fab with a tan in the summer. I personally prefer all of the green, blue and neutral colours to the left of the palette.

 Santorini Blush - £4.29

The bright fuchsia colour may scare most people off but the shade actually just adds a beautiful flush to the cheeks. You can wear it as heavy or blended out as you like and it looks very different than it first appears in the pan and natural if you just apply small amount, but if you fancy a bright pink cheek it's perfect for that look too.

new cid cosmetics reviews

A couple of months ago I went to a speed PR event where I met six different brands and New CID Cosmetics was one of them. I was actually lucky enough to meet the founder of the brand Kelly Colman and the Creative Director Rupert Kingston so I had a chance to ask them plenty of questions which was great. I walked away from the event with plenty of things to try out but for now I will start off by reviewing three of the products..

i - blossom Pressed Powder Blush Stamp -
If like me you are one of those people that pretty much carries everything but the kitchen sink around with you this kind of product is really handy. I hate having to take a blush compact, a separate brush and even sometimes a separate mirror around in my make up bag with me, but thankfully this product has combined all three in a small compact. You simply dot a stamp of the product on each cheek and then blend with your fingers while looking in the attached mirror and then just screw the lid back on, perfect for when you are on the move. I really like the colour also, but I think it has just a tad too much shimmer which may put people off. It doesn't look quite so shimmery once it's on your cheeks but I would prefer a matte shade. There is also 9g of product which is a third more than a Mac blusher which makes it good value for money too, and they come in two alternate shades.

Price: £18.50
Available on the New CID cosmetics website, here.

i - shadow quad in 'Laguna' -

Firstly, how gorgeous are those colours! They are all very well pigmented apart from the colour in the bottom right corner which was slightly tricky to work with. The compact itself is sleek and stylish and comes with a great smudging brush to create a smoky eye.

Price: £21.50
Available on the New CID cosmetics website, here.

i - gel Long Wear Gel Eye Liner Trio in Granite, Graphite and Carbon -

And finally on to my favourite product at the moment. I've always found gel eye liner a hassle up until now; I found that lots I tried dried out far too quickly and were messy to apply. I can honestly say that even from someone who is fairly clumsy most of the time, this product is so easy to use. I love the little round pot that the three shades come in not only because it's nice and small but it also has a genius second plastic lid to completely stop the liner from drying out. I also found that the colours are so pigmented that you barely need to use any product, the tiniest amount will do the job. The brush also works well and creates a winged eye liner look quickly and easily. The liner lasts all day without smudging and for me it's an all round winner! I've also used it in one of my youtube videos, so have a look at that too, here.

Price: £21.50
Available on Feel Unique for £19.35, here.

I have some more New CID Cosmetics reviews coming up soon so keep an eye out for those. I have also been informed that the brand do not test on animals. They also have a fab range of brushes that are made from synthetic fibres on their website, here.
