eos lip balm review + giveaway

I've heard lots of great things about these lip balms for a long time now and was so pleased when the lovely people at biggreeensmile.com sent over a bunch of different flavours. I decided to keep one to review and give the other two away to a couple of you, I'm sure most of you will be in need of a great lip balm now Winter is on it's way. I have both the Lemon Drop and Blueberry Acai versions up for grabs and will be choosing a winner for each so there are more chances of winning.

EOS HONEYSUCKLE LIP BALM - £4.99: The packaging of the lip balms is absolutely genius, they kind of remind me of a mini plastic egg with a lip balm centre. Not only do they look great on the outside but with the lip balm being formed in a sphere shape it makes application so quick and easy as it glides on to the shape of your lips. The balm itself feels luxurious and works really well at softening the lips, it also lasts a while once it's on too. The flavour is sweet yet subtle and the best part is the balms are made from 100% natural ingredients.

crazy for carmex

I know that most people will already be aware of how amazing Carmex lip balms are, but if not, here I am to inform you of just that! I often have pretty dry lips which are prone to getting chapped and sometimes sore, I'm not sure why but perhaps it's because I'm always wearing matte lipsticks and it dries them out. I've tried lots of lip balms and salves in my time, a lot of them don't actually work and just gloss over the problem as it were. A couple of days ago my lips were rather chapped so I reached for the Carmex and after a couple of days applying it my lips ended up super hydrated and soft. I'm in no doubt that Carmex Lip Balm Tube is the best lip balm in the whole wide world, the cherry version cannot be improved on. The Lip Pots are great too but don't give quite the same nourishment in my opinion but are a good alternative if you want to apply something lighter feeling, I use the pot version in the daytime and the tube version just before bed. Not forgetting the Moisture Plus range which come in Peach, Pink and Berry shades to give a hint of colour to the lips, these are perfect on days which my lips are too chapped for lipsticks. I know that I'm sounding like a fanatic of the brand but I just wanted to show some love for them as often I get sidetracked with fancier/more expensive products from time to time.

ALL CURRENTLY ON 3 FOR 2 IN BOOTS!

nuxe reve de miel lip balm

Another product that has recently taken the beauty world by storm and become a firm favourite amongst beauty writers is this lip balm by Nuxe. This is yet another product that I purchased after seeing it mentioned in one of Lisa Eldridge's videos and I picked up around four pots whilst in Paris as they were unbelievably cheap out there. When I first tried out the balm I instantly fell in love with the silky luxurious texture and how unlike every other lip balm it has a matte texture rather than gloss. I find it moisturises my lips perfectly and lasts literally hours before needing to be reapplied, if you apply it before bed it even stays on until morning and works at hydrating your lips overnight. I really can't recommend this product enough, it makes an amazing base for lipstick too as it's matte it primes the lips perfectly. I always carry a pot in my handbag and would hate to be without it, no other lip balm will ever match up.

vaseline mystery lip therapy blogger challenge

Recently I was set the challenge of identifying the mystery flavour of an unbranded tin of Vaseline and to design my own tin based from this, every girls dream right? I was sent an exciting package which was filled with sequins, glitter and diamantés to decorate the tin with, also included were a few clues to the flavour such as Charbonnel et Walker Pink Champagne truffles, a pink celebration balloon and champagne bubbles. After having a nibble on the truffles and trying out the lip balm for myself I put my beauty brain to the test and came up with the flavour:

In terms of a lip balm flavour I think this is a fabulous idea, it tastes and smells amazing and I'm not sure that many girls would be able to resist a Pink Champagne flavour on their lips. After realising the flavour I then put my creative hands (cough) to work and glued a pretty design of diamantés onto the lid. It wasn't the easiest of tasks and without going into detail (I certainly did not super-glue my fingers together) lets just say the end result is all that matters. I'm really quite pleased with my little blinged up tin and think that it will make a lovely addition to my make up bag. I then raided my bedroom and found a leftover violet ladurée macaroon and a fuchsia mini Eiffel Tower to include in the pictures.

The best part of this blogger challenge is that the person who creates the best post wins a trip to Paris (oh la-la) for not just themselves but a chance for their readers to win the same prize too! I have all of my fingers and toes firmly crossed that I'm in with a chance, Paris is my favourite city in the world and I'd be honoured to host a giveaway for one of you to win this amazing prize too.

The clues

The creation

The next day I decided to dip the lid in some iridescent white glitter to make it even more sparkly. I really like both of the versions, as the one above looks more simple and classic but this version looks so glittery and girly..

The new Limited Edition Vaseline Lip Therapy will be available exclusively at Selfridges from 5th September costing just £3.49. Click here to check out the Vaseline facebook page and keep up-to-date with exciting product launches. To give me a helping hand in winning the trip to Paris and a chance to host a giveaway for you to win the same, pretty please answer the following questions in the comments..

What lip therapy flavours would you like to see from Vaseline? Does the pink champagne flavour take your fancy?

pre-release review: sleek caribbean collection

So moving quite swiftly on from yesterdays post that applied to only the moneybags of you all, today I will be reviewing another great collection by Sleek. And since we have been having weather identical to the Caribbean lately it's rather apt. I was actually lucky enough to go to the Caribbean a year or so ago and went to quite a few different islands and can definitely say Sleek have captured the colours and feel of the Caribbean perfectly.

Aruba Blush - £4.29

Yeah it really is a bright orange tangerine coloured blush. Don't let that put you off though because as I said a few posts ago you can blend the blush out to look completely subtle. Worth investing in if you are bored of the same old pink blush, as long as you use a light hand!

Bonaire Pout Polish - £4.29

I hadn't tried a pout polish by Sleek before but had heard lots of good things about them and it definitely didn't disappoint. The packaging is perfect and ahemm.. 'Sleek'.. perfect to pop in your bag for the beach. The colour is fairly sheer but has a subtle orange tint while on the lips, perfect with a tan. It has the moisturising feel of a lip balm (it's enriched with Avocado and Sweet Almond Oil) yet the sheen of a gloss.

Curaçao I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette - £6.49

Another fab eyeshadow palette by Sleek, after all that is what they are mainly famed for. If you like bright eyeshadows you most definitely love this palette. I love the burnt orange with gold shimmer, the pearly white colour and the olive green with gold glitter best. And to be honest the palette would be worth purchasing even if you only like half the colours, you could pretty much afford two palettes for the same price as one Mac eyeshadow. That's almost 24 eyeshadows instead of the price for one!

The collection is available from the 6th of July for a limited time only from Superdrug stores or  www.sleekmakeup.com
