when revlon minted goes wrong..

Not long ago I did a review of Revlon's Minted nail polish, which you can find here. I warned about how using the wrong top coat could make it look, frankly, bloody awful. So, I painted my nails the other day, and couldn't find my Seche Vite, so I just used a standard Sally Hansen top coat. As the top coat was setting, more bubbles kept appearing on the nail varnish and it just kept looking worse and worse. I used a base coat and everything, it just seems that Revlon Minted is very temperamental.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

  1. This happens to me when I don't let each layer dry enough before putting on another. Usually happens all the time as I'm too inpatient to wait long enough haha :) xxx

  2. Oh my God! I've never had that happen! I will steer well clear of that top coat though! Poor thing, I hate it when you go through all the trouble of doing your nails and then ruin them at the last minute and have to start again, it sucks!x

  3. That looks so unusual, lol.
It's never been that bad when I do my nails. I hate having to take it off and do it again though, lol.

  5. Yeah, I blogged similar. It is a really diffcult product to read. I think I got it once perfect, literally the best my nails have ever looked but pretty much other then that it has always looked verged on tacky and cheap. Love the colour but reluctant to try this formulation again esp. since some of cheaper brands have never disappointed me this much.

  7. Aw I hate when this happens, I actually thought it had to do with a cheapy base coat I was using so I switched it up and it seemed to do the job :)

  8. This as happened to me a few times! I think its when you put a top coat on before it properly dried. It really annoys me when it happens xx

  11. That's soo wierd. I think it's when you put the top coat on too soon or don't let your first coat dry before you apply your next
I've had bubbles on my nails before for that reason but never that many!!

  13. Lilac Pastelle does exactly the same thing! At first I thought it was the bad condition I've let my nails get into from continuously painting them!
Surprising as they aren't the cheapest of nail polishes around! xx

  14. Got the bubbles. I used the revlon basecoat. I allowed each layer to dry for 30 minutes. I applied 3 layers. I used a top coat.
I repeated the process and got exactly the same effect.
The orange colour doesn't bubble, but is streaky.

Is there anywhere you can complain when a product doesn't do what it is supposed to?
If you google this you'll find everyone gets the bubbles.

    Revlon nail polish = nasty.

  15. Don't blame the nail polish... this happens when you either put the next coat on before the previous one is dry, you used too much at once, or you shook the bottle before painting. I use revlon all the time (essie is my favoritr brand though) amd this has never happened to me...

  17. Omg, I wish I had read your review before buying Minted! I bought it yesterday, so excited over the color. Applying it, I kept loving the color, thinking how great it would be to wear around town (mint is my favorite color).

And then these stupid bubbles! I have gotten bubbles before, but never this bad, and I take all the usual steps to prevent them, but no matter what, bubbles! I'm so disappointed.

Like you, I did the Sally Hansen top coat, but that's what I always use, and never had any problems with other polish.

  18. Actually, I think it is the sally hansen top coat as I have experienced bubble problems whenever I apply their top coat on orly or opi. That top coat even changes my pink colours to purple! I have since changed my top coat to rapid dry OPI and never had that problem again.

  19. its when the bottle has been shaken, they are air bubbles.
roll your bottles of polish to prevent this happening. :)

  20. that's exactly what happened to me!! I used the minted revlon, a sally hansen base coat and top coat. now i have bubbly nails. attractive :\ at least the color was cute.
don't shake the bottle (this gives the bottle air bubbles). and if you paint your nails in direct sunlight it can make them bubble too.

  21. the same thing happened to me... I used the sally hansen top coat, thinking it was going to turn out into a cute mint color and suddenly I have bubbly nails :\ attractive.
Don't shake the bottle or roll it at all. This can give it air bubbles. And don't use it in direct sunlight.
