cover fx total cover cream foundation

A couple of days ago I attended the launch event of some brand new foundation products by Cover FX and got to hear all about their new products. I hadn't really heard much about the brand until this point so it was interesting to see a room full of foundation shades for every different skin tone - the cream foundation comes in a whopping total of 28 shades which I think is really impressive. I was matched up very quickly using a skin tone chart and over the past few days have found that the match is perfect for my skin colour.

I was given my very own cream foundation and application brush to try out, the foundation already comes with a sponge but I find that I prefer to use the brush for daytime application and the sponge for a heavier coverage in the evening. I've been really impressed with the product so far, the coverage is better than any foundation I've tried before yet doesn't leave you looking caked up. As I said before, the shade is absolutely perfect for my olive toned pale skin and doesn't leave me looking washed out as some pale foundations can do. I also find that I can skin using concealer which is a great thing for me as concealing my imperfections and uneven skin tone is what I spend the longest amount of time doing in my make up routine. So far I'm massively impressed with the foundation, it comes in a handy little compact fitted with a mirror and sponge tray, covers any imperfections and boosts the radiance of my skin, lasts all day and is even enriched with Vitamins C and E to protect your skin.

The foundation retails at £37 which is undoubtedly very expensive, however when you consider that it can double up as a heavy weight concealer, is enriched with Vitamins and has an SPF 30 built in the reality of the high price point is eased slightly. Unfortunately for my bank balance I can see this product becoming a staple in my make up bag and will definitely look into repurchasing the product time and time again once it runs out.

nip + fab event

Last night I headed over to the prestigious W Hotel to attend the Nip + Fab event, the hotel was so swanky that it even had television screens built into the lifts! If any of you didn't already know, Nip + Fab is the sister brand to Rodial, basically the alternative for people on a smaller budget. I'm already a huge fan of Rodial products and I'm currently testing out the Dragons Blood range so it was interesting to be introduced to the cheaper alternative brand, Nip + Fab. I haven't yet tried out any of the products (bad beauty blogger) but now have a gift bag filled with goodies so will be sure to let you all know what I think! The founder of both brands, Maria, spent plenty of time chatting to people around the room and it was a pleasure for me to meet her since I'm such a fan of the Rodial brand.

Have you ever tried any Nip + Fab products before?

bioré japenese tea party

Tonight I decided to be a good blogger and ventured out into SoHo after a long days interning for the Bioré Japenese tea party event, not that it took a lot of persuasion. The event was based around the idea of cleansing your skin from the outside but also cleansing your body on the inside, hence the tea theme. There was even a special Bioré blend of tea made by a tea expert for us to try out and take home who told us that he has had 1.5 million cups of tea in just fourteen years. Firstly we were given a short but informative chat about all things tea related, and told how to brew the perfect cuppa. It was news to me that the only difference between green tea and black tea is that the black tea leaves are left to ferment for just an hour longer than the green, I actually thought they were from different plants before being told this! After the tea talk we got to have a taste of all the components in the special Bioré blend of tea separately, this really gave me a great concept of how the different flavours combine to make the perfect brew. Aside from the Japanese tea theme I can't wait to try out the Bioré products included in my gift bag to share my thoughts with you all!

superdrug lashes

I recently attended the launch event for a new range of false lashes by Superdrug on the London Eye, as all of the girls got lashes applied there was stunning views of the city.

The lashes range from £4.49 to £5.49 in price, depending on if they have one or two strips of lashes built in. Double strip lashes will add a lot more volume as they basically have two layers of lashes. The packaging is kept simple and classy, I like how realistic the images of the lashes are as they help you get a good idea of what they will look like once they are on. Applying the lashes was easy for me as I've had plenty of experience in my time but for novices there are instructions on the back. The glue works really well and is a lot more long lasting than I expected and actually rivals my duo professional glue!

Double Volume Edition 40

These have two rows of lashes meaning that they are a lot thicker than normal styles and I absolutely love them. They appear really thick at the roots but then look wispy at the ends which I find perfect, I also found them really easy to apply.

Natural Edition 11

These lashes are a great option for those of you just starting to use false lashes as they are natural looking yet noticeable. They can be quite tricky to apply though as the lash strip is very delicate and bendy so be careful if you are heavy handed like me or you will get glue everywhere!

Intense Volume Edition 31

And finally for the Katie Price wannabes out there, these lashes are just about as full on and dramatic as you can get. Obviously not for everyday use but I reckon I'd brave them for a night out.

Let me know your thoughts!

iFabbo event

On Thursday I attended the first ever iFabbo event in the very glam Powder Room in London. It was a really great event as there was plenty of time to chat with other bloggers which is quite rare at an event. I'm not just saying it either but everyone there was so lovely and easy to talk to, along with the pink cocktails, yummy cupcakes and different make up brands dotted around the room I was in beauty blogger heaven! I've pinched all the pictures from the iFabbo facebook page so hope you all enjoy having a peek at the event. I will be blogging about the brands soon so stay tuned.

Thanks to Charli, Alex (who needs to start a blog!), Louise, Emma and Priya for being so lovely. I also met Fleur who's videos I've watched for literally forever now and am sure you've all heard of, she really is just as nice in person!

In the goody bag

Big thanks to iFabbo!

the talk pr and boudoir pr press days

I recently headed to quite a few events in London again and thought I'd do a little round up post of the day. I hope you guys like these posts as I thought you'd all appreciate a little nosey at the fun we have. I know the odd person seems to think it's showing off which makes me cringe beyond belief, that couldn't be further from the truth. I genuinely feel so lucky that I get to go to a couple of blogger events per month, I definitely love meeting up with the lovelies that I've met through blogging. The following pics were taken at two different press days so I thought it would be good to give you all a quick overview of brands that I will be posting about soon, there will also be lots of fashion related pictures from the day over on my other blog - away with the fairies. I know my blog is in need of a little spicing up as it's been centred a lot around reviews lately so hopefully these kind of posts break it up well, let me know what you think. And if you have any suggestions for posts which you'd like to see then drop me a line here.

The Boudoir PR Press Day -
The fun was mainly had when most of the girls had a chance to get coloured hair extensions put in. I unfortunately had my hair up that day so missed out! The extensions are synthetic and just clip in like normal ones but are long wefts rather than streaks. I personally love how Katie got hers done, reminds me a lot of the my little pony colours..

Then everyone got their nails done with the Nail Rock Nail Wraps which I feature in a post just the other week, here. They are so fun and unique looking, I definitely think they will become hugely popular soon! Thanks to Alex and Charli for the hand modelling :)

The Talk PR Press Day -

Lippie touch ups by Lipcote were my favourite bit about the event as my lipstick was just starting to fade away. I had already heard of the brand as I remember my mum used to use Lipcote to seal her lipstick years and years ago. The brand has been brought right up to date recently though with cool artwork and a vanilla flavoured version. Keep a look out for a review soon!

And finally were manicures by Nail Ease.. they are different to the Nail Rock Wraps (mentioned earlier) as they are actual nail varnish that are a lot more pliable and ideal for using on the go. I wouldn't compare the two brands as the wraps are completely different, but I would say that if you are a nail polish addict like me yet always forget to apply it the night before you are off to work then these are absolutely perfect to apply on the train, all you need is a nail file!

I had a fab day and almost forgot to mention the little Starbucks meet up that me, Sabrina, Maria, Charli and Alex had beforehand which was lovely too.
