With messy buns I've found that there is no real logic to pulling one off. I've tried lots of different tricks to achieve the perfect messy bun but I've found the best way is to have wavy hair, use a thickening spray, then backcomb it and do a high ponytail but only pull the hair only half way through so it creates a bun, and finally pull and mess around with the hair and put bobby pins in different places. I guess the good thing about a messy bun is it doesn't take any real skill or effort to just pin different sections of hair back and roughen it up. I usually like to backcomb my fringe also and create a bit of a quiff or just leave it as is. Headscarves tied in bows and flower clips also look really cute with a hair style like this. Just remember that bobby pins are your best friends for a messy bun.

I wish I had hair long enough to do this - it looks so effortless.

I can never create the perfect messy bun as mine always end up either looking too neat or falling out as they're too messy! Yours looks lovely, I wish mine did that! x
ReplyDeleteI love messy buns. Yours looks great.
ReplyDeleteI always tie it into a high pony and then wrap the rest of my hair round the pony and tuck into into the hair tie and then pull the front of my hair slightly to loosen it off and pin any bits that need pinned! :)

I'll have to try this, I usually use my donut for the high bun! One of my friends literally just pins her hair up randomly and it always looks so good!
